Always on the look out for new Middle Eastern and GCC-based labels and fashion talent, it was love at first sight when I discovered the gorgeous statement tees by Oman/Abu Dhabi-based label Lucky Nooni.
The mastermind behind these kitsch t-shirts is Omani fashion designer Sheikha Manar Al Hinai (who is also the first woman in the entire Gulf region to earn a Masters degree in diversity management from Leeds University in 2009...and all at the age of 23!)
Al Hinai is a testament to my mission here on Under Your Abaya...her and her friends all wear the abaya, but, when they hang out at private gatherings, they compete to see who can come up with the most stylish and unique ensembles underneath their abayas.
A lover of fashion since a young age who holds her mother as her ultimate style icon and inspiration, Sheikha Manar would make her own one-of-a-kind pieces to wear at Eid and she spends hours hunting boutiques around the UAE like S*uce and Ounass for unique pieces.
Established early last year, the success of Lucky Nooni has been phenomenal with orders flooding in from as far as Louisiana in the States, Denmark, Croatia and New Zealand!
My favourite tee from the collection? Without doubt it has to be the Breakfast at Tiffany's-inspired t-shirt with Audrey Hepburn wearing a burga and the comical line, "Breakfast at the...tent"!
Prices start at around 250 Dhs. Lucky Nooni is available online on the Lucky Nooni website and online boutique, as well as Creme Boutique in Bahrain. Sheikha Manar plans to make Lucky Nooni available in more locations around the GCC in the future.
