Cala Mari: The Clutch Collection

New from fashion designer, costume designer, stylist and founder of Qatar's first street style blog Nomad* Carla Mallari, is a clutch collection for her label Cala Mari.

The signature look of the collection are the trompe l'oeil hands forming a face with embroidery and beading. The clutches are quirky, fun and fashion-forward just like the designer!

Check out more of the collection on the website (I'm loving how she has made a kaleidoscope of the collection), follow her on Instagram and Twitter @mari_cala and be sure to "like" the Facebook page.

Bambah RTW 2014 Collection - Collection Zero: The Bow

Maha Abdul Rasheed, the owner and visionary behind Dubai's most popular vintage boutique Bambah, has just launched her first vintage-inspired ready-to-wear collection. Maha has a reputation for her vintage-reconstructed clothes and so we have been anticipating an entire collection like this for a long time!

Collection Zero: The Bow takes its inspiration from 1950's ladylike fashion. Sweetheart necklines, A-line cuts and nipped-in waists create hourglass figures that icons of that time like Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren were famous for. Decadent fabrics are used such as jacquard and layers of tulle.

The collection consists of four "stories": Orchid Daydream, soft pastel-hued ballroom dresses and gowns with vintage orchid prints, Duchess Blossom, which uses vintage cherry and tulip prints on cocktail dresses and peplum skirts, Midnight Noir, which consists of skirts, playsuits and dresses made from lace as well as monochrome polka dot prints, and Vivid Grace, strapless dresses and tops with oversized bows in neon shades. The fabrics and prints are developed by Maha herself.

To check out the entire collection visit the website.

Bambah Boutique is located on 142 Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai, UAE, and is opened from 10 am to 10 pm every day.

Lu Re Collection Launch

Today launches the first collection of Lu Re, comprised of designer duo and friends Lulwa Al Kilani "Lu" and Rebecca Gabbai "Re".

Their first collection consists of six matching top and pant sets made from 100% silk-charmeuse from Hangzhou, and each one is inspired by a different culture. The fabric is light, luxurious to touch and comfortable to wear. The collection was inspired by Rebecca's love of lounge wear - clothing that blurs the line between pyjama wear and outerwear.

The pant suits can be worn matchy-matchy or you can take individual pieces and wear them on their own. The motifs are digital designs inspired by culture.

Lulwa and Rebecca are strong supporters of empowering women and 10% of the profits made from their collection will be donated to women starting up their own businesses in disadvantaged communities around the world.

For more info, visit their website, or email them at Rebecca@lu-re.com / Lulwa@lu-re.com.

You can also follow them on Twitter and Instagram @luredreams. And don't forget to Like their Facebook page.

My Home Mani/Pedi With The Choice

Having to go to and from a salon in Doha's crazy traffic for a manicure/pedicure can be a headache and might take away from the enjoyment of it all. Sometimes you just want to be in the comfort of your home and relax. That is why I was psyched to hear that Qatar now has it's own home manicure/pedicure salon service. The name of the company is The Choice, founded by the lovely Um Reem who hails from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and who has been living in Doha for 3 years now.

The nail technician knew what she was doing and worked quickly on both my hands and feet (since I only had just over an hour to spare), living them perfectly smooth and groomed. She brought with her a whole case of O.P.I. nail colours to choose from and in addition to that, all O.P.I. products for the foot scrub and hand and feet massages. The hand and feet massages were just what I needed after a day of running around. It costs 350 QAR for a manicure, pedicure and full nail colour on both hands and feet.

I highly recommend this service. For bookings, please call 33693329.

You can follow them on instagram @the.choice.salon.

Dana Riad - The Label: Hurichihan Winter 2014 Collection

Doha-based award-winning designer Dana Riad has just launched her latest collection, the Hurichihan Winter 2014 Collection.

The 12-piece collection consists of fantastical gowns and crop tops with matching A-line skirts as well as matching capes and headdresses in luxe fabrics and soft pastel shades like dusky pinks, powdery blues and lavender. For this collection, Dana was inspired by Sultana Hurichihan, the wife of Ottoman Prince Bayezid, who was soft and feminine, yet powerful, and whose determination and passion won over the heart of the Prince. The pieces nail two trends this season: that of fairytale gowns and winter pastel shades.

About Dana Riad

Based in Doha, Dana Riad studied a double major in Interior Design and Fashion Design at Virgin Commonwealth University in Qatar, graduating with a Golden Needle Award in 2011 for the Most Outstanding Double Major. Soon after graduation she launched her eponymous label; her first collection sold out almost right away. Her designs have been featured in local magazine publications including Glam, Grazia and FACT Qatar. Dana also works as a senior stylist for Al Jazeera Network.

Dana designs for feminine yet powerful women which is evident in her choice of inspiration for her collections. Her designs are often opulent, incorporating fine details such as lace applique, Swarovski crystals, jewels and golden embroidery.
